Late last night, a fire broke out at a scrap metal recycling facility in Jersey City. Firefighters have been on the scene at Sims Metal since after 11 p.m. and they are still trying to contain it. Smoke has been drifting towards the harbor and NYC.

No injuries have been reported so far. WABC 7 reports, "Firefighters were battling the flames from land and from a marine vessel, and crews in claw cranes have been moving debris out of the way in an effort to aid the fight. Firefighters contained the flames to a mound of metal about 30 feet high and 100 feet wide." Here's video:

Jersey City officials are trying to figure out what the cause of the fire is. According to NBC, Sims Metal Management is the world's largest recycler of metals and electronics.
