[Update below] Oh, Fox News. As if June's battles with Jon Stewart weren't enough, now the cable news network has its own staffers on the record talking about pulling punches against GOP figures. Specifically, pulling punches against political lightning rod Sarah Palin.
Yesterday the folks on The Five discussed a clip of Palin getting angry when Red Eye's Greg Gutfeld brought up the elephant in the room: “The only problem with talking about Sarah Palin," he said, "is that she works here and it’s like a co-worker and, if I say something bad and I see her in the hallway, I feel really awkward and wrong. So I just kind of say, ‘That was a good job.’”
And after that Bob Beckel went further, saying "I'll be honest. I've pulled punches on her."
Now, as Mediate points out, none of this is actually that shocking. We all already knew this. But it is noteworthy as these were Fox employees discussing pulling punches on a national figure when the same network often claims the "liberal media" pulls punches on liberals. See for yourself:
Update: Or maybe it was all a joke? That, at least, is what Gutfeld and Beckel are now arguing. “I was playing off what Greg was saying,” Beckel said in an interview Thursday. ‘’People are so sensitive.”
