A 9-year-old boy was struck and injured by a driver who was speeding down a Williamsburg sidewalk yesterday in an attempt to evade arrest, according to police.
Yeshiva World obtained this video, which the website aptly describes as "TERRIFYING":
The incident occurred at around 4 p.m.; the victim was on the sidewalk at the corner of Rodney Street and Lee Avenue when the motorist, who was driving down the sidewalk, struck him. The unidentified driver and another man in his car had allegedly just attempted to use a counterfeit $20 at a number of local establishments until one pharmacy employee called the police. That's when they jumped in their black Toyota Camry and sped down the sidewalk, according to witnesses.
The 9-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for a foot injury.
The driver apparently crashed his car soon after striking the child. An NYPD spokesperson said this morning that no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
