Firefighters cut through a midtown building's 42nd floor windows to rescue two window washers who were left in a dangling scaffolding gondola. From the footage (below) and photos, it looks like one of the cables broke, while a FDNY source told the Daily News that one of the motors stalled.

The washers were working outside of 1177 Sixth Avenue, between 45th and 46th Streets. The FDNY says the washers, who were both harnessed, were taken to the hospital; one had minor injuries while the other had a cardiac condition.
