The victim of a Tribeca hate crime is now speaking out. The 57-year-old lawyer described being attacked by another woman who yelled "Take that, white bitch!" and swung a metal make-up box in her face. "It's the worst pain you ever felt in your face," she told NBC New York. "You just don't know what you look like. My eye was bloody, totally shut."

The victim, who spoke anonymously, was walking on Warren Street on May 31st when the attack occurred. In an interview with CBS New York, she said, "I was walking back from a meeting and I saw a woman on the street that had her hand all the way back and I thought she was dancing. Instead, the next thing I knew she smashed my face with a metal box."

She also recalled that the attacker, who was caught on surveillance video, "was laughing that she hurt me."

The pain was so intense that the victim said she "felt like I was going to pass out but I tried not to. And I went over to the first person I saw and said, 'Do I have teeth in my mouth?'"

The victim went to the hospital for her injures: She suffered a black eye and "my face was double the size it is and my nose was all the way on the other side of my face," she said.

The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident. The victim told CBS New York, "This isn’t just something that’s happening, it’s not a freak accident. I just really hope whoever did this gets the help they need and nobody else gets hit like this."

Police describe the suspect as being 30-40 years old. She was last seen wearing a blue jacket and light colored pants; she carried a black shoulder bag and a silver and black metal box.
