A Verizon worker was electrocuted to death earlier today in a tragic accident in Brownsville. The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was working from a bucket truck on a power line above the intersection of Christopher and New Lotts Avenues around 11:30 a.m. when something went terribly wrong. A wire appears to have gone loose and come into contact with the back of his neck, electrocuted him.

The victim was quickly lowered down by his partner on the ground but it was too late. "I heard some screaming, 'Bring it down! Bring it down!' The guy was being electrocuted for 20 seconds," a witness told the Post.

Other witnesses describe seeing the man's head aflame and say "His neck had a mark from where the wire had touched him. It was horrible." Though nearby samaritans quickly rushed to help put out the flames, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. How exactly the terrible accident occurred is now under investigation.
