NJ Governor Chris Christie took top honors in a straw poll at the Virginia Tea Party Patriots' convention, edging out Republican party superstar, Alaskan half-term governor Sarah Palin. Christie got 14% of the 1,560 ballots casted, while Palin got around 13.5%; libertarian Rep. Ron Paul, former House Speaker and "Ground Zero" mosque-hater Newt Gingrich, and Senator Jim DeMint rounded out the poll. Christie has become a darling of the GOP lately, crossing the county to stump for and even defend various Republican candidates, but he said last week, "I’ve made myself really clear on my position about that. I’m governor of New Jersey. I’m not going to run for national office."
