Police say that a 33-year-old man killed his 70-year-old father in their Upper West Side apartment at West 87th and Amsterdam last night. Julian Kurita was taken into custody for allegedly stabbing his father, Fumitaka Kurita, in the neck. According to the Daily News, "When cops arrived, they found the son holding his wrist, which investigators believe he had sliced in an effort to end his life. He was in stable condition at St. Luke's Hospital, where he was under arrest last night, police said." A neighbor, Michael Weinstein, told the Times that the elder Kurita was "'always smiling' but recently looked frail," and told the Post, "I knew something was going to happen. There was so much tension in the family."
