The U.S. Open tees off tomorrow morning at Bethpage State Park's Black Course and while the field is supremely talented, there is clearly one favorite — Tiger Woods. Besides being the best golfer in the World, Woods is the defending Open champion and won the tournament when it was last held at Bethpage in 2002.

But, just because Woods is the presumptive favorite, don’t hand him the trophy just yet. Phil Mickelson has the talent to win the tournament and will have the crowd squarely behind him. Phil has always been loved in the New York area and with the news that his wife is battling breast cancer, he will have the galleries rocking with his every move. Other notables in the field include, Padraig Harrington who has won more majors than anyone in the last two years. Angel Cabrera, fresh off his impressive win in the Masters and Retief Goosen the winner the last time the Open was on Long Island.

All of these talented golfers will have to wage a battle with a tremendous golf course. Bethpage Black is very long and you can bet the greens will be very, very fast. There is some rain in the forecast, which may slow up play and slow up the greens, but it should be an exciting weekend on Long Island.
