Two people were killed in a fire in a building in Chinatown this morning. According to the FDNY, the fire broke out on the first floor of a six-floor building at 83 Henry Street before 11 a.m. The two victims were already dead when firefighters arrived. Firefighters were still on scene fighting the blaze as of this posting. We'll update as we learn any more information.

Update: According to police, the two women who were found dead at 83 Henry Street this morning were fatally shot before the fire started. The Post says one woman was in her 70s and the other was in her 50s; their sources say that after the women were shot, the suspect set the apartment ablaze in the kitchen and in a bedroom. The police are currently investigating both the deaths of the women and the cause of the fire. FDNY added that it took 65 firefighters to get the blaze under control.
