[UPDATE BELOW] Service on the 1,2 and 3 lines at several stations has been suspended after an unidentified victim was electrocuted by touching the third rail at Christopher Street, an MTA spokesperson said.

As of now, the 1 train is suspended in both directions between 34 Street-Penn St and South Ferry, and the 3 train is suspended between 34 Street-Penn Station and Atlantic Avenue. Some northbound 2 trains are running on the 5 line between Nevins Street and 149 Street-Grand Central, and southbound 2 trains are bypassing Christopher Street.

The spokesman had no information on the identity of the victim, nor the possible provocation for jumping into the tracks. This is the second reported death caused by contact with the third rail this month.

Update, 4:45 p.m.: Service has been restored to the 1, 2 and 3 lines with residual delays.
