If you're in a motor vehicle headed to the Manhattan Bridge, ABORT! ABORT! There's a serious accident on the upper roadway, and traffic is currently at a complete standstill as first responders grapple with the situation. According to a preliminary report over the wires, one person is trapped inside a vehicle, and an FDNY spokesman confirms this is a multi-car pileup involving at least three vehicles.

No word yet on injuries. We'll update as more information becomes available, but for now you'd be advised to steer clear of the Manhattan Bridge (unless you're on a bike).

Update 11:30 a.m.: Traffic is now slugging along, and the FDNY tells us one patient is being transported to Bellevue hospital. We'll update when we know the extent of the injuries.
