[Update Below] According to one witness, a man jumped onto the L Train tracks in Brooklyn just before 9:30 a.m. this morning. An FDNY spokesman tells us they are currently in the process of removing the person from the L Train tracks at East 105th Street and Farragut. According to one straphanger, a "man jumped in front the L train, came out in one piece though, reports and everyone out."
She added: "I can't imagine what one is going through to make them want to take their own life, especially with an audience. I'm lost for words and late for work." At this moment, it's still unclear if the L train hit the unidentified man, and if so, the extent of his injuries. MTA says train service between the Rockaway Parkway Station and the Broadway Junction Station is currently delayed due to the investigation. We'll update when we have more information.
Update: The FDNY has a little more information about the victim: they tell us that the man is in his late 20s/early 30s, and was taken to Brookdale Hospital in serious condition. They also refuted a NY Post report that the victim is actually a woman.
Also, the L Train is now running normally following the incident.
