[UPDATE BELOW] Might as well enjoy the city-mandated snow day, because if you're attempting to travel you will write your own horror story. Though LaGuardia airport remained open yesterday evening, as of now JFK, Newark and LaGuardia airports are all closed until 4 p.m. And we are really sorry if you're at JFK, because according to one intrepid traveler, the Au Bon Pain at Terminal 4 is out of food already.

Jason Cochran spoke to CNN about his travails, and has been updating Twitter about his current 17 hours at JFK. He writes, "Yes, I've been stuck at JFK for 16 hours. There's no way to leave, food is running out. @VirginAtlantic foolishly dragged us here into this." He says Virgin Airlines handed out food vouchers, but there is little food left, and reportedly "NO MORE COFFEE."

Even though everyone knows the airports must slowly be turning into the Lord of the Flies, some airlines apparently don't want you to see how the sausage is made! The Daily News reports that JetBlue security guards stormed a News reporter and ordered him to delete his photos of the board showing delays and cancellations, calling it "private property." JetBlue spokeswoman Jen Cardillo says photographer Steven Sunshine should have asked for clearance three days in advance, and told the News, "We weren't prepared to have our terminal photographed."

The snow has also shuttered smaller airports in the area. Currently the FAA says Islip will remain closed until 1 p.m., New Haven will be closed until 6:59 p.m. and Atlantic City should be open by noon. But at least one traveller has chosen to look on the bright side. Steve Wassef, stuck in LaGuardia, told the News, "Things could be worse; I could be outside. I've got free WiFi. It's not as bad as it could be."

[UPDATE] According to the FAA, the time when both LaGuardia and Newark airports are supposed to reopen is now unknown. JFK is now scheduled to open again at 6 p.m., and people waiting on line at Terminal 4's McDonald's are starting to revolt.
