A 15-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy were killed in a car crash in the Rockaways that according to police, involved a stolen vehicle and a gun.

According to an NYPD release, the two teenagers were riding in green 2009 Toyota Corolla that was being driven by a 19-year-old man at around 3 a.m. Saturday morning. Police say the group was traveling west near Beach 41st Street on the Rockaway Freeway when the car slammed into a cement support pillar for the train. Sources tell the Post that the car had swerved to avoid a traffic checkpoint, and two police officers gave chase in their patrol vehicle. Witnesses said that one of the passengers brandished a gun before hitting the pillar.

The 15-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 14-year-old was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital. Charges are pending against the 19-year-old. None of the boys have been identified.
