A 29-year-old man was struck and killed by a hit and run driver in Elmhurst early this morning, the second pedestrian to be fatally struck by a hit in run in three days.

According to an NYPD release, the victim was attempting to cross Astoria Boulevard near the intersection of 31st Avenue at around 4:30 a.m. when he was hit by a driver in what police believe may have been a beige Toyota Camry with Pennsylvania plates.

On Monday night, a 72-year-old man was killed by a hit and run driver in Flatbush as he tried to cross Avenue D between 42nd and 43rd streets.

Both fatalities are being investigated by the department's Collision Investigation Squad. An NYPD spokeswoman said that the identities of the victims are being held pending family notification.
