Two men were killed and the rest of the passengers were injured when a Nissan Altima crashed into a wooden pole in the Greenridge neighborhood of Staten Island early this morning. And according to a witness, the car was speeding. "I could see the car flying down [the road] at 75 or 80 miles an hour," the witness told the Daily News. "They lost control and he swerved. He hit the curb and the car flipped over twice before it landed on the pole."

19-year-old Daniel Peluso and 20-year-old Jeff Capretta both died in the crash; Peluso died at the scene while Capretta was pronounced dead at Staten Island hospital. Police are investigating whether or not alcohol was involved in the accident, though it's already clear that six passengers stuffed into a five-seat car left at least one without a seat belt. The four other passengers are all in stable condition at Staten Island University Hospital.
