Two children were found dead and an NYPD officer's wife was hospitalized with "minor lacerations on her wrists" last night after first responders were called to her Bronx apartment to investigate a gas leak. Police arrived at the apartment, located at 1500 Noble Avenue, just before midnight and made the grisly discovery: plastic was taped over the windows of the apartment, and a five-year-old boy and a four-month-old girl were "unresponsive and unconscious." They were pronounced DOA.

A suicide note/confession was found near the children's bodies, and police are investigating
whether it was a botched murder/suicide attempt. The woman found at the scene is reportedly the mother, and she's currently listed in stable condition at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx. According to the Daily News, "her devastated husband, a city police officer, broke down in tears after returning home to find his apartment was now a likely crime scene."
