Yesterday many of us were baffled by Anthony Weiner's vague response to a direct question posed by Daily News columnist Denis Hamill, who reportedly asked the mayoral candidate, "There is no one you are sexting now?" Weiner reportedly answered, "You can quibble about beginnings, middles and ends but what we're talking about is over a year ago." Weiner's reply did seem strangely vague and evasive (whatever happened to basic prevarication?) but it turns out that's because a certain someone at the Daily News mangled the transcription (or so they say). Again, here's how it appeared yesterday:

Q: There's no one you're sexting now?

A: You can quibble about beginnings, middles and ends but what we're talking about is over a year ago.

And here's how it appears today:

Q: And it was over a year ago? There’s been nothing else?

A: I mean, oh yeah, all that stuff is behind me. You can quibble about you know, beginnings, middles and ends, but it was basically a year ago.

Kind of a significant thing to fuck up! In a "clarification" added at the bottom of the interview, the News explains that "in an interview with Anthony Weiner in Tuesday’s paper, a question posed to the mayoral candidate and his answer were transcribed incorrectly." Anyway, now we know for sure that all that freaky sexting is definitely (basically) in Anthony Weiner's past.
