President Donald Trump is making his first trip to New York City in 2018 today to attend an immigration event on Long Island. The forum will focus on the MS-13 gang which Trump has railed against in recent weeks, calling them "violent animals." And protesters will be gathering to in turn rail against Trump when he swings through Manhattan in the early evening.

Rise and Resist has organized a protest from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. outside the Lotte Hotel, located at 455 Madison near 50th Street, where Trump will head after the MS-13 forum in order to schmooze with supporters. Organizers tell us that among other things, there will be "inflatable poop" and possibly a mariachi band: "The run of show should be pretty much like when we protested Trump at the Intrepid or at Cipriani's," said Wrolf Courtney, one of the organizers. "We get there, the cops presumably pen us in across the street. We will be raising a lot of noise—people are bringing noisemakers and pots and pans."

"I will do everything in my power to prevent him from harming more people, spreading more hate, and lying constantly to his constituents with no evident conscience," said Martin Quinn, another one of the organizers. "When America has faced the worst of injustice, people took to the streets and won. That's why we're in the street today."

You can find more information about the protest on Facebook and get fired up by watching a livestream of Trump's immigration roundtable starting at 2 p.m.

And if you're anything like us, what you really want is a minute-by-minute breakdown of Trump's NYC visit today. In that case, just scroll below and "enjoy!" Manhattan rush hour should be lovely.
