With the heat index (temperature combined with humidity) expected to be at least 95 today, the heat advisory is still in effect and the city's cooling centers are once again open. Today is also the Nautica Triathlon, which includes a 1.5K swim, a 40K bike portion, and then a 10K run. Contestants start at the West 79th Street Boat Basin in Riverside Park by swimming in the Hudson River to 57th Street and then back to West 79th Street; then they bike to the Bronx and back to 79th Street in Riverside Park. The final leg is the 10K run, exiting the park at West 72nd Street and for a run around the loop in Central Park.

Given the heat, competitors will be extra careful: one told WCBS 2, "I plan on drinking a lot of water. I have a lot of friends and family on the course, so I told them if they see me, just to soak me."
