A truck driver is dead after a horrible accident last night on the BQE by the Metropolitan Avenue exit in Brooklyn. According to the NYPD, William Gardner, Jr. was driving a tractor trailer eastbound on the expressway when he rear-ended another tractor trailer around 11:20 p.m. Gardner, Jr., a 50-year-old resident of New Hope, PA, was ejected from the passenger side window after his truck rammed into a wall on the right side shoulder under under the Broadway overpass.
Gardner, Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other truck, an unidentified 51-year-old man, hit a median but did not sustain any serious injuries. The NYPD says there is no criminality expected but the investigation is ongoing.
The accident turned part of the BQE into a parking lot for hours last night, but of course Twitter was there for them:

You guys, I was just in gridlock for TWO HOURS on the BQE from Park Slope to Wburg. Since when did #Brooklyn become @bonnaroo traffic?

I'm literally parked in traffic on the BQE right now. I'm going to have a fucking mental breakdown.

Engine off on the bqe. Great night ahead. The accident was only 2 cars more ahead. Should have left 30 seconds earlier
