071808discount.jpgA Brooklyn TKTS – the discount Broadway and Off-Broadway ticket booth – was recently unveiled at MetroTech Center in downtown Brooklyn at the corner of Jay Street and Myrtle Avenue.

Though it won’t be open on weekends like the Manhattan TKTS locations, it will give Brooklyn playgoers the edge on weekdays, when it opens a full four hours ahead of the Times Square TKTS, which is currently operating at the Marriot Marquis while the new Duffy Square development slowly nears completion.

The Brooklyn TKTS will also sell discount tickets to Brooklyn arts events, like productions at BAM. But Brooklyn Paper has it that the first customer at the booth’s opening on July 10th wasn’t interested in any artsy Next Wave-type nonsense – Carroll Gardens resident Josh Huttenbach was observed buying tickets to Legally Blonde, which he swore were for his daughters, who were conspicuously absent. [TKTS Brooklyn is open Monday through Friday, from 11 am to 6 pm, and accepts all major credit cards.]
