Last night, the Jets faced off with the Tennessee Titans in a messy game in Nashville and lost, 14-10. One of the defining moments occurred when Titans running back Chris Johnson ran for a 94-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

Johnson had attracted attention before the game because he wrote the names of the victims of the Newtown shooting—the 26 students and educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School—on his shoes. According to the Tennessean, the NFL gave Johnson permission to wear the shoes. The player explained he just wanted to do "something to try to give back and show tribute to those families and how much they hurt... It just shows you how fortunate it is for us to come out here and play on Sunday and Monday."

Giants star Victor Cruz had paid tribute to Newtown shooting victim Jack Pinto, 6, because the boy was a huge Giants fan. Cruz wrote Pinto's name on his shoes and wore them during the team's 34-0 loss against Atlanta Falcons.
