Three teenagers have pled guilty to raping and robbing a 33-year-old woman in Chinatown last year, according to the Manhattan District Attorney's office.
According to DA Cyrus Vance, Emanuel Burrowes, 17, pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the June 2015 attack today. His accomplices, Sanat Asliev and Eric Pek, who are also 17, had already pled guilty to the same charges. All three teens have admitted to sneaking out of their group home in the early hours of June 1st, groping the victim at an internet cafe at around 3:30 a.m., dragging her to a nearby building, raping her, beating her, and stealing her credit cards, ID and keys before attempting to get into her apartment to steal her items.
The victim was able to contact police and was treated at a nearby hospital. The teens were arrested the following day, and charged with rape, burglary, and robbery. The group home they lived in, Boys Town, was closed by the city a few days after the attack.
"In just two hours, these defendants committed a spree of violent felonies across downtown neighborhoods,” Vance said in a statement. “The actions taken by these young men are truly unforgivable. No prison sentence can account for the pain and trauma that these defendants caused the survivor in this case, but I hope that these convictions will provide a sense of closure for her.”
Sentencing details have yet to be announced.
