Three people were arrested this week in connection with the death of a 28-year-old man whose body was found fatally beaten and strangled under a mattress in a hotel in Midtown.

Roderick Goodwin, 28, was found around 4 a.m. on Monday at a room at the Hilton Garden Inn near Herald Square. Investigators say he suffered blunt force trauma and asphyxiation, and was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital.

Yesterday, Gabriel Pena, 27, and Jennifer Rodriguez, 28, were arrested in connection with Goodwin's death; 31-year-old Christine O'Brien was arrested on Thursday. Police believe Goodwin was a pimp, and his death may have been part of a bungled prostitution scam.

O'Brien had reportedly been with Goodwin earlier in the day, and eventually brought four accomplices to his room at the Hilton Garden Inn with the intention of robbing him. Surveillance video shows her and five accomplices going into the hotel's elevator to go upstairs at around 3:30 a.m., then leaving later. It is believed one of O'Brien's accomplices smashed Goodwin in the head with a bottle.

Rodriguez allegedly told police she was part of the group of accomplices. It is unclear what role Pena played in the attack, but all three suspects have been charged with second-degree murder, and Rodriguez has also been charged with first degree robbery.
