Our summer friend—hazy, hot and humid weather—is back thanks to a high pressure system that has moved out to sea. The southerly breeze means that a heat advisory is in effect for all five boroughs through tomorrow evening. We've surpassed 90 degrees for the 23rd tme this year. Number 24 is almost certainly happening tomorrow.
Showers and thunderstorms are always a possibility when it gets this muggy. There's a slight chance of rain this afternoon and tonight. Showers will be more likely tomorrow as the next cold front approaches. Tomorrow's high will be in the low 90s and the heat index will approach 100.
Although a cold front should rumble through town late Thursday night cooler air won't arrive until Saturday. Look for Friday to again top out around 90 degrees. The weekend should be marvelous with clear skies and highs in the mid 80s.
