A 17-year-old cyclist was fatally struck by a box truck driver in Hell's Kitchen early this morning, according to the NYPD.

Cops say the cyclist, who has not yet been publicly identified, was traveling north in the easternmost lane on 10th Avenue just after midnight when he was hit by the 29-year-old driver of a 2004 Isuzu box truck, at the intersection of West 55th Street and 10th Avenue. EMS took the cyclist to Cornell Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the NYPD, a preliminary investigation indicates the truck driver was going west on 55th Street and had the light in his favor when he struck the cyclist at the intersection. The driver remained on the scene and an investigation by the NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad is still ongoing.
