A 19-year-old male is dead and an 18-year-old injured following a shooting inside a livery cab in East New York yesterday, according to the NYPD.

Authorities say that the two teenagers were sitting in the livery cab near 29 McClancy Place in East New York at around 5:48 p.m. yesterday when a male suspect, flanked by another male, approached the car. The suspect shot at the victims and the 18-year-old was struck in the shoulder, while the 19-year-old was struck in the torso. The cab's driver transported the victims to Brookdale Hospital, where the elder victim was pronounced dead.

The deceased has been identified as Aaron Parkinson. The younger teen, who was treated and released, has not been identified.

Monday's shooting comes on the heels of a second alleged attack in a cab in Brooklyn—earlier in the day, authorities say an Uber driver was carjacked at gunpoint in Crown Heights. There are reports that the 29-year-old driver picked up three passengers at the Albany houses early Monday morning before picking up a fourth passenger; when they reached Schenectady Avenue at around 7:30 a.m., one rider put a gun to the driver's head and subsequently stole his phone and car, according to reports.

In a statement, an Uber spokesperson tells us: "First, we’re very thankful that our driver partner was not hurt during this crime. We are working closely with the authorities to support this ongoing investigation and hope the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice."
