A 19-year-old girl was punched in the face in Chinatown on Saturday by a man police say made anti-Muslim statements towards her.

According to police, the teenager was in front of 109 East Broadway at around 10:40 p.m. on Saturday when she was approached by the suspect. They reportedly got into a verbal dispute, during which he made anti-Muslim statements—he then allegedly spit at her and punched her in the face before fleeing down Eldridge Street.

The victim suffered a fractured jaw. She was treated at Beth Israel Hospital.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 5'8" to 5'10" in height and wearing a dark colored hat, dark colored pants, dark colored shirt and carrying a plastic bag. You can see him in the video below:
