An 18-year-old died after being shot in the face last night in front of the Jacob Riis Houses on Avenue D.

According to police, they responded to a 911 call at 10:47 p.m. at 118 Avenue D and found Deontay Moore with a gunshot wound to the head. Moore was brought to Bellevue Hospital, where he died. The suspected gunman fled the scene, and it's believed he was on a bicycle.

A woman who lives at 108 Avenue D told the Post, "This is why I keep my kids inside. He pulls his gun out and just shot him down. I just yelled ‘Oh my god!’I just started screaming." The Post adds, "According to cops, unruly residents began throwing trash and other objects onto the crime scene below, forcing cops to call in back-up and emergency services."

The Daily News reports that the shooting might have stemmed from the January 4 fatal shooting of Raphael Ward: "Sources said Ward was targeted because of a prior shooting in Harlem. But Moore’s pals said he was just out with the wrong people when the bullets flew." A friend insisted, "He was just a normal teenager, hanging outside."
