A 19-year-old Brooklyn man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder in connection with the Coney Island double shooting that left both a 10-year-old boy and 25-year-old man hospitalized last weekend.

Police say that Samuel Navarez was charged late Wednesday in connection to the incident. The shooting took place just after 7 p.m. on June 29th at the intersection of Mermaid Avenue and West 24th Street near the Coney Island waterfront. An unidentified 25-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen while the young boy was struck by a bullet in his right knee.

The Daily News identified the younger victim as Eddie Abdelrahaman, also noting that he and the older victim had not been together before the shooting. Both were rushed to Lutheran Hospital in Sunset Park following and are expected to make full recoveries. No further details of Navarez's arrest have been made available.
