Queens Congressman Gary Ackerman is demanding that Florida Republican and Tea Party Patriot Rep. Allen West apologize for comparing the Democratic Party to Nazis. “This is exactly the type of rhetoric that turns people off to Washington and getting involved in politics,” Ackerman tells the Daily News. “I call on Republicans and Democrats alike to join me in demanding an apology." Aw, c'mon. What did West say that was so offensive? "If Joseph Goebbels was around, he’d be very proud of the Democrat Party, because they have an incredible propaganda machine." Fighting "propaganda" with anti-semitic propaganda: do we have a new GOP presidential frontrunner on our hands?

Michigan Rep. John Conyers, the most senior black lawmaker in Congress, offered West a chance to apologize in a handwritten letter: "I beg of you to help raise the level of congressional discourse so that we can engage in vigorous debate without resort[ing] to personal attacks." But West, being the reasoned Patriot that he is, responded to Conyers with "a note embossed with his name and a Congressional seal" that read, "The Democrat Party does indeed have a vicious propaganda machine. It espouses lies and deceit and the Master of deceptive information would truly be proud."

West tells the Daily News that everyone needs to stop putting words in his mouth:

“What I'm talking about is a person that was the minister of propaganda. And I'm talking about propaganda. So please. I'll be prepared to wake up tomorrow and you guys make up some crazy story. Whatever."

Yeah, next thing you know he'll hear some crazy story about how propaganda was used to kill millions of people, or that you need a different license for each state in order to carry a weapon.
