They're coming. Production of the Nissan NV200—better known as the Taxi of Tomorrow—has begun in Mexico in earnest, with plants running 23 hours a day, 6 days a week to ensure that the new rides are speeding down New York City streets by fall.
According to IndianAutosBlog (our favorite!), the new cabs will come equipped with transparent roof panels, independent A/C control, sliding doors and an entry step for easy entering/exiting—and, as the city has eagerly pointed out, a handicapped version with rear opening for traffic-avoidance.
What else? 12-volt charging stations, two USB ports, reading and floor lights, antibacterial seats that “feel and stimulate skin material." Neat?
