In stomach curling news, fifth known victim of James Jamelske, the Syracuse area serial sex torturer, has come forward, according to the Post. The 67 year-old "retired millionaire handyman" kidnapped women, ranging in ages from 13-55, and held them captive in his basement "dungeon," raping them and keeping them there chained to a gate for many months at a time.
Jamelske has been found competent to stand trial, but that doesn't mean he won't try a psychiatric defense. A 16 year-old who was kidnapped by him for six months was not reported missing by her family because she was on probation and had violated terms. Apparently, Jamelske's MO was to ask women if they wanted a lift...most accepted willingly.
The Post's caption asks "The Face of the Monster?" Gothamist doesn't understand why there's a question mark there (okay, fine, libel, pending evidence), when, clearly, he is a monster. News like this makes Gothamist upset and angry at the world all over again.
