Brownstoner discovers
(and the NY Post confirms) that a new bike path will soon connect Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 1 to Pier 6. The pretty string of waterfront parks partially opened this spring, first with the expansive, hilly Pier 1 at Fulton Ferry Landing. This was followed by Pier 6, which opened in June with a playground and a ferry dock at the end of Atlantic Avenue.
The path will stretch 15 blocks from Atlantic Avenue to Old Fulton Street, winding through almost the entire 1.3-mile waterfront park. According to the Post, the path is meant to be shared by cyclists and pedestrians, so get your popcorn ready for yet another round of the bike lane battle royale. And since this is Brooklyn Heights, there are sure to be strollers involved, too!
