Police are searching for the person accused of attacking Asian women in four separate incidents. In the most recent assault, the male suspect allegedly "pressed his smartphone against the glass storefront window" of a Chinatown dry cleaner before attacking a worker.

The attacks occurred last week and on Monday: In each instance, the suspect tries to talk to the victim and then hits her with a hard object in a plastic bag.

According to the NY Times, the message was seen by a woman working at the counter and a seamstress at the Paragon II Dry Cleaners: "His phone displayed a Chinese message, 'something vulgar against women,' said a man who worked the counter at Paragon on Tuesday, translating for the seamstress. 'Sexual.'... The woman who worked at the counter on Monday, who the police said was 41, stepped outside to tell the man in English to leave. They spoke briefly, the seamstress recounted. He left."

The suspect came back inside the store 20 minutes later, carrying a bag, and the woman at the counter showed him out. Then, the Times reports, the seamstress heard a scream, "The woman from the counter bled from her mouth. The man had hit her and fled north. She was treated at a hospital and released."

The message on the phone, the seamstress told DNAinfo, was "was written in perfect Chinese." She didn't understand the conversation between her co-worker and the attacker, because they were speaking in English.
