An NYPD squad car crashed into an SUV on Friday morning, leaving at least three people injured.
SI Live obtained surveillance footage of the crash, which occurred around 9:45 a.m. at the intersection of Delafield Avenue and Broadway in West Brighton. The footage shows an NYPD vehicle with its siren on colliding with a dark-colored SUV. After the front of the cop car crashed into the SUV's front passenger side, the force of the collision sent the car careening into a laundromat. The laundromat owner and an employee were present, but neither was injured.
Cops were reportedly responding to a report of an emotionally disturbed person around 9:30 a.m., and the squad car had its lights on at the time of the crash.
The driver of the SUV, a 79-year-old man, received serious but nonthreatening injuries. Two police officers were also injured. The driver, officers, and a person described as "emotionally disturbed" were reportedly taken to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton.
An NYPD spokesperson said they didn't have any information about the accident as of Sunday morning.
