The subway might be a sad, miserable cesspool of commuter hell most of the time but, hey, at least crime's going down! Or so says the NYPD: according to their data, felony crimes have gone down by about 6 percent this year.

This year, the NYPD says they've only recorded 2,329 felonies committed on the subway, as opposed to last year's 2,482. Though that decrease doesn't sound like much, subway crime previously saw a three-year rise, mostly thanks to all the Apple products thieves were snatching up all the time.

It remains to be seen whether the drop in subway crime is thanks to increased police presence, or simply an understanding among thieves that iOS7 has drained so much battery power from iPhones there's just no point in stealing them anymore.
