A man was seriously injured early this morning when he attempted to subway surf atop an F train in Gowanus.

Officials say the injured man, whose age and identity have yet to be released, was riding on top of the car at around 2:20 a.m. this morning. As the train pulled into the Fourth Avenue and Ninth Street stop, the man hit his head on a metal beam. According to the FDNY, he was transported to Lutheran Hospital with a serious head injury.

This is the second subway surfing incident in less than a week. Last Wednesday, a homeless man died after riding atop a 6 train in Manhattan; he also struck his head on a metal beam. The man had reportedly been smoking synthetic marijuana before he was killed.
