Police are searching for a man who allegedly stabbed a fellow subway rider over a 2 train seat on Sunday afternoon.
According to the NYPD, the incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. on July 26th, on a southbound 2 train at 3rd Avenue and East 149th Street in the Bronx: "The suspect had a verbal dispute with a 25-year-old victim over a seat on the train. The suspect produced a sharp object and stabbed the victim in the abdomen and left arm." The stabber then fled the station on foot.
Police released surveillance video of the suspect, who is described as 45-50 years old and heavy-set, with salt and pepper hair.
Straphangers who frequent the stop told WCBS 2, "Other than weekends or late nights, this is not really that dangerous a station," and "I would say this is very unusual."
