Yesterday morning, a 54 year-old man was hit and killed by an oncoming A train at the West 4th Street Station. Police believe that Alphonso Heyward lost balance and fell into the path of the train because of low blood sugar (Heyward suffered from diabetes). According to the Daily News, his body was dragged 15 feet before the A train stopped. Witnesses told police that Heyward, who had been on his way to a job interview, was standing very close to the edge of the platform. People, try not to stand on the edge of the platform. Gothamist goes crazy when we see people at the edge - it's all we can do not to physically pull them a couple feet away.
