Folks using the 1, 2 or 3 trains, start praying that NYC Transit is able to fix issues at Park Place by the evening rush. A reader had mentioned that a train derailed at Park Place earlier today and now the MTA's NYCT Service Alert page says:
"Due to a train with ongoing mechanical problems at the Park Place Station, 2 train service is running on the 5 line between the 149th Street-Grand Concourse Station and the Nevins Street Station in both directions.
Selected Flatbush Avenue-bound 2 trains are running between the Wakefield-241st Street Station and the 14th Street Station.
There are no 3 trains in both directions between the Times Square-42nd Street Station and the Nevins Street Station.
As an alternative, customers are advised to use nearby R and W trains at the City Hall Station or A and C trains at the Chambers Street Station."
And yes, also expect delays on the 1, 2, and 3.
According to CityRoom, "No passengers were injured when one wheel of a southbound No. 2 express train jumped the rail as the train entered the Park Place station in the financial district. No cause has been established, but a New York City Transit spokesman described the event as a minor incident. 'The customers probably really didn’t even notice,' the spokesman, Charles F. Seaton, said."
