2008_11_shop2.jpgAs consumers have been cutting down their spending, retailers have been hoping the holiday season will pick up. Many businesses are slashing prices in anticipation of big Black Friday sales tomorrow. One item that's marked down: Flat-pangel high-def TVs. J&R Music World told USA Today, "There's an oversupply in the market, and big TVs are what consumers want more than anything else, so they're being priced aggressively." At Best Buy, a 50-inch Panasonic plasma is $899, down from $999, but "only 10 units will be available per store, and you need a 'ticket' to purchase it"; tickets are first-come, first-serve when the store opens...at 5 a.m., though some tickets are being handed out at 3 a.m.! And Amazon.com is slashing pricing online. Some stores were even open today to get a jump on business. One shopper told the Daily News, "I'm super looking for bargains.
I'm only shopping for things that are discounted. Nothing full price."
