A Staten Island woman has been found dead in apparent murder-suicide.
Just before 10:30 a.m. yesterday, police discovered a 43-year-old woman dead in her Staten Island home with a slash wound to her neck. CBS identifies her as 43-year-old Iwona Pawliszyn, and reports that officials believe she was murdered by her estranged husband, 39-year-old Pawel Pawliszyn, who was found dead in Poughkeepsie.
Both bodies were discovered at roughly the same time Saturday. Police sources told the Daily News that Pawel Pawliszyn was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.
“They just bought the house five years ago,” nearby neighbor Steve Delamonica told CBS. “They were fighting earlier, a couple of people heard them slamming the door.”
Another neighbor, Diana Cangro, said the Pawliszyn couple had been separated, and are survived by three children. "You know I see the little boy all the time walking. He gets off the bus stop there and I wait for my kids here,” Cangro said. “I just saw him yesterday and now today he has no mom. It’s terrible.”
