A 42-year-old Staten Island man was arrested early Wednesday for stealing a Citi Bike. Officers became suspicious when they saw the suspect riding the Citi Bike in Staten Island—one of two boroughs (hello Bronx) without a single Citi Bike station.
According to an NYPD spokeswoman, officers stopped Sean Williams, 42, riding a Citi Bike near the corner of Vanderbilt Avenue and Roff Street in Fox Hills, shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning. DNAInfo reports that Williams initially told officers that he had been given the bike by a friend. The same bike had been reported missing from a Midtown Citi Bike station in July.
Williams was charged with criminal possession of stolen property. His next court date is set for October 27th.
