A small plane crashed into a residential New Jersey neighborhood at 3:30 Monday afternoon, setting multiple buildings ablaze in the town of Carlstadt.

As of 4:35 p.m., emergency crews were still attempting to put out the fires caused by the crash, which occurred about a quarter mile away from Teterboro Airport, according to the FAA.

Police told a Fox news reporter that two people are dead. CNN is now reporting that the two fatalities are the pilot and co-pilot.

The FAA has identified the plane as a Learjet 35, which can hold about 8 people. The small twin-engine jet plane reportedly departed from Philadelphia. Teterboro Airport is currently closed, according to a statement released by Port Authority.
