Park Slope is crumbling right before our eyes. Yesterday, a manhole explosion sent a cover careening into the face of an unsuspecting passerby on Prospect Park West, sending him to the hospital. This morning, dozens of resident were evacuated after another manhole blew up on 6th Street. 'Tis the season!
According to FDNY, the explosion occurred around 4 a.m. outside 400 6th Street, between 5th and 6th avenues. No one was injured, though the residents of six surrounding buildings were evacuated thanks to high concentrations of carbon monoxide found in the vicinity.
The displaced residents were ushered onto a city bus to protect them from the morning's frigid temperatures. And to think it's only Tuesday.
