Six firefighters have been injured in a fire that broke out in the basement of a Manhattan commercial building.

NBC reports that the fire started at 9 West 29th Street between 5th Avenue and Broadway around 1 a.m. and struck what appeared to be a computer store on the first floor of a five-story building.

According to NBC, the FDNY had the fire under control by 3 a.m., but crews were still extinguishing the blaze hours later. An Instagram picture posted by the FDNY at 11:41 a.m. shows that the fire escalated from a five-alarm to a six-alarm fire, and an FDNY spokesperson told Gothamist the fire is still being extinguished as of 1 p.m.

Four firefighters have been taken to Bellevue Hospital with minor injuries and a fifth was taken to New York Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries, according to NBC. On Instagram, the FDNY mentioned an additional firefighter who received minor injuries but did not say whether he had been taken to a hospital for treatment.
