A woman was found beaten to death in her Staten Island home early this morning, and her husband has allegedly confessed to it. According to police, Jodi Surinaga, 41, was found dead with severe head trauma at her home on Beechwood Place just before 2:30 a.m. this morning. Her husband, 45-year-old Gregory Surinaga, was taken into custody; according to Staten Island Advance sources, he confessed to killing her after he found out she had cheated on him.

Gregory allegedly said he first attempted to choke his wife of 20 years, and then hit her with a bat, causing the fatal injuries. He then consumed a large quantity of pills in an apparent suicide attempt. Jodi Surinaga was found by one of the couple's two teen children, who called police; they reportedly found Gregory covered in his wife's blood.

"Oh my God—I share a wall with them," a distraught neighbor told SI Advance, adding that the couple seemed happy, "but you never know what goes on on the inside."
